Mihail Sosnovschi

Born in Chisinau, Moldova, Mihail Sosnovschi trained at the Ballet Academy of Moldova and the Vienna Conservatory. He danced with the Vienna State Ballet for over 20 years and was awarded the title of Audience Favorite during his time there at the House on the Ring.

My story

Mihail Sosnovschi was born in Chisinau, Moldova. After his training at the ballet academy in Moldova and at the conservatory in Vienna, he joined Le Jeune Ballet de France in 2000. He then moved to the Vienna State Ballet in 2001, where he was promoted to demi-soloist in 2003 and soloist in 2010. His repertoire includes major classical and numerous contemporary roles. Mischa has performed as a guest dancer in many European countries and overseas. In addition, he has been celebrated as a crowd favorite in the Vienna State Opera.

Mihail also gained great recognition for his frequent appearances at the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert (17 times) and the Vienna Opera Ball (14 times).

Since 2003, Mihail Sosnovschi has served as a board member of the Association of Vienna State Opera Ballet. He became vice chairman in 2008 and was finally elected president of the association in 2019.

Since then, Sosnovschi has organized numerous national and international ballet events with the Association of Vienna State Opera Ballet. These include large ballet galas, worldwide guest performances, and many Vienna balls. One of the largest projects of the Moldovan State Opera was organized and carried out by Mihail. Guest performances at the Aspendos Theater and galas in Bodrum are also among Sosnovschi's projects. Countless ball openings are enriched every year by him and the association, and for the annual guest performance of the Association of Vienna State Opera Ballet in Bad Aussee, Mihail serves as artistic director and choreographer.

Awards and honors: 1st prize: ÖTR Contest in Vienna 2001, Grand Prix: Concours International de Danse de Luxembourg (2001), Karl Musil Memorial Prize (2016), Premio Capri Danza (2017), Award "Gloria Muncii" and honorary diploma (Diplomă de Onoare) from the Republic of Moldova for outstanding cultural achievements (2018), Grand Prix de la Culture 2018 of the Vienna Private Bank.
