The Vienna State Opera Ballet Association is dedicated to exploring ballet as a timeless art form

Viennese tradition for over 300 years

The tradition of Viennese ballet dance has been in existence for over 300 years. The Viennese ballet style, which blends classical and modern influences from around the world, has become an integral part of Vienna's ballet culture over time. The Vienna State Opera Ballet Association aims to preserve and showcase the aesthetics, artistic standards, and tradition of this unique art form to the public. The non-profit organization was established in 1994 and brings together soloists, demi-soloists, and corps de ballet from the Vienna State Ballet ensemble and beyond.

Artistic diversity

The Vienna State Opera Ballet Association aims to make the unique art form of ballet accessible to a wide audience and not limited to a traditional visit to the State Opera. To achieve this, the association organizes performances that range from a full-length Vienna Ballet program to individually choreographed dance performances. Depending on the occasion and location, diverse dance performances are created that blend classical ballet with contemporary flair.

Furthermore, the association also aims to support young talented dancers by providing increased stage presence and performance opportunities

Top-notch team

Having numerous connections with international choreographers and dancers is another crucial factor within the artistic network of the Vienna State Opera Ballet Association. The art of ballet dance is preserved as an essential human need through this form of artistic expression.

Mihail Sosnovschi, former soloist of the Vienna State Ballet and celebrated audience favorite of the ensemble, serves as the president. He can be admired at numerous performances of the association. With Igor Milos as treasurer, another important pillar of the ensemble is represented on the board. Since 2023, Raffaela Pegani has been serving as the deputy to the President, and Solomon Osazuva holds the position of Managing Director.
