VIENNA TRADITION FOR OVER 300 YEARS

The tradition of Viennese ballet has existed for over 300 years. The Viennese blend of classical and modern ballet incorporates international influences and trends, which over time have become an integral part of Vienna’s ballet culture. The Vienna State Opera Ballet Association is committed to preserving and promoting the aesthetics, artistic standards, and traditions of this unique art form. Founded in 1994, this non-profit organization unites soloists, demi-soloists, and corps de ballet members from the Vienna State Ballet ensemble and beyond.

ARTISTIC DIVERSITY

The unique art form of ballet should be made accessible to a broad audience and not solely tied to a traditional visit to the opera house. To achieve this, the Vienna State Opera Ballet Association organizes performances ranging from a full-length Viennese ballet program to individually choreographed dance pieces. Depending on the occasion, setting, and preferences, a variety of dance performances are created, blending classical elements with contemporary flair.

The association also aims to support young talents by providing increased stage presence and performance opportunities.

TOP TEAM

Extensive connections to international choreographers and dancers are another key aspect of the artistic network within the Vienna State Opera Ballet Association. Through ballet, art is preserved as an essential human need.

Mihail Sosnovschi, a former soloist of the Vienna State Ballet and a beloved audience favorite, serves as President and is often seen performing in numerous association appearances. Igor Milos, as Treasurer, represents another vital pillar of the ensemble on the board. Since 2023, Raffaela Pegani has served as Vice President, and Solomon Osazuva has taken on the role of Managing Director.
